Engine
Turbo petrol engine, 4-cyl
The engine is a transverse, four-cylinder,
in-line engine with dual overhead camshaft
and 16 valves. The engine block and cylinder
head are made of aluminium.
The engine is equipped with two balancer
shafts that reduce engine vibrations to a
minimum.
The balance shafts are chain driven and
rotate at twice the speed of the crankshaft.
They produce forces and torques that are
opposed to those generated by the pistons
and connecting rods, an effect that occurs
twice for each revolution of the engine.
Engine noise is therefore also reduced as
the counter-rotating shafts counteract the
vibration from the moving parts of the
engine.
The gearbox, located on the left-hand side
of the engine, is integrated with the engine.
Turbo petrol engine, V6 3
The V6 engine is a turbo charged V6
engine. The engine block and cylinder head
are made of aluminium with 60° between
the cylinder banks, 4 valves per cylinder and
2 camshafts per bank.
The camshafts are driven via a chain transmission.
The engine is equipped with a
turbo whose turbine collects exhaust pressure
from both banks of cylinders.
To obtain optimum performance, fuel consumption
and low emission levels the
engine is equipped with CVCP (Continuous
Variable Cam Phasing). This means that
the engine’s intake camshafts can be
adjusted to achieve optimum functionality.
The switches are hydraulic.

The diesel engine is a transverse, fourcylinder,
in-line engine. The engine has
16 valves and dual overhead camshafts.
The gearbox, located on the left-hand side
of the engine, is integrated with the engine.
