We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop. Before setting off on a long journey, it is advisable to have the car checked over at a workshop. We recommend that you contact an authorised Cadillac workshop. Make sure that you have essential spares with you on your journey, such as bulbs, fuses, wiper blades and a drive belt (poly-V-belt). There are a number of items you can check yourself before the journey: • Check that oil or fuel does not leak from the engine or gearbox. • Check the poly-V-belt (drive belt). Have it replaced if it shows any signs of wear. • Check the battery charge. • Check the tread and pressure of all tyres, including the spare wheel. Refer to page 245 for tyre pressures. • Take along an extra remote control. Carry this separately. • Check the speed rating on the tyres to ensure that you do not exceed the maximum permitted speed for the tyres if motoring on derestricted roads. Refer to "Tyre markings" on page 211. • Check the brakes. • Check all lights and bulbs. • Check the tool kit. • Wintertime: check whether studded tyres are allowed in the country to which you are travelling. • Make sure you are carrying a warning triangle. Acquaint yourself with the regulations that apply to its use in the county to which you are travelling. Turn the height adjuster screw 3 turns anticlockwise to adjust the light beam downwards if you are switching from righthand traffic to left-hand traffic or vice versa. This is most suitable done with a 6 mm hex socket wrench.
