The Malfunction Indicator Light should illuminate. Check the fuel cap to be sure that it is properly installed. After a few driving trips, this message and light should turn off. See "Malfunction Indicator Light" earlier in this section for more information. • TRACTION CONTROL OFF Appears when the traction control system is turned off. Adjust your driving accordingly. See "Stabilitrak System" later in this section for more information. • TRANSMISSION HOT -- IDLE ENGINE Appears if the transmission fluid is too hot. Stop and idle the engine until the message is removed. You will hear four chimes when this message is displayed. Pull over and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
