Oil meeting this standard will also have the American Petroleum Institute Starburst symbol on its container. Only use oil that has the American Petroleum Institute Starburst symbol on its container. Your vehicle was filled with Mobil 1 ® synthetic oil at the factory, which meets all the requirements for your vehicle. If you change the oil, be sure the oil you use meets GM Standard GM 4718M and has the American Petroleum Institute Starburst symbol on its container. When you are not changing the oil but rather adding oil to maintain the engine oil level, oil meeting GM Standard GM 4718M may not be available. In this case, you may use an SAE 5W-30 oil with the starburst symbol on its container, as a substitute at all temperatures. Substitute oil not meeting the GM4718M standard should not be used for an oil change. If an oil meeting GM standard GM4718M is not available, use an oil that meets the American Petroleum Institute Service SM or GM-LL-A-025 service requirements.
