Unless it can be demonstrated that it is not practicable or<br />

viable, all new housing developments should:<br />

i. Reflect ‘Lifetime Neighbourhood’ principles 24 (PC2.18),<br />

and<br />

ii. Achieve the ‘Very Good’ standard <strong>of</strong> the ‘Building for<br />

Life’ assessment, and<br />

iii. Be constructed to Lifetime Homes Standards in order to<br />

provide adaptable homes, which meet the long term<br />

changing needs <strong>of</strong> occupiers.<br />

Development schemes should seek to reflect the principles <strong>of</strong><br />

nationally recognised design benchmarks to ensure that the<br />

best quality <strong>of</strong> design is achieved. (PC4.42)<br />
