- The offering of another small football pitch does appear a poor deal<br />

for the residents of the village in comparison to the sizeable<br />

investment in facilities that it requires.<br />

- Development of under 500 homes means that the developer does<br />

not have to contribute to the health provision in Sherburn.<br />

- Children <strong>and</strong> youths will congregate around the astro-turf <strong>and</strong><br />

green areas creating noise <strong>and</strong> litter issues for surrounding<br />

residents.<br />

- Police station is not manned all the time.<br />

- Sherburn does not have a fire station.<br />

- No facilities for young people.<br />

- Village has no leisure facilities.<br />

- Developer should be made to provide additional services in the<br />

village centre.<br />

- Sherburn has grown immensely over the last 30 years <strong>with</strong> no<br />

improvement in service provision.<br />

- No money is put into Sherburn it is a scruffy run down town.<br />

Other matters<br />

- Local economy <strong>and</strong> trades people will not benefit from the<br />

development.<br />

- Concerned that the applicant will not develop the scheme.<br />

- Young population have nothing to do.<br />

- The north of the village should be utilised instead of l<strong>and</strong> off Low<br />

Street.<br />

- Development would be built under the flight path for Sherburn Aero<br />

Club, which is a well used light airfield in the country.<br />

- <strong>Applications</strong> should be considered as one not three separate<br />

applications.<br />

- There is also the matter of maladministration of behalf of the<br />

council in overlooking a site already granted approval which has<br />

opened the door for the scale of this development to be submitted.<br />

- Applicant has consistently provided inaccurate information as part<br />

of the planning application.<br />

- If approved the development should utilise local tradesmen <strong>and</strong><br />

labourers.<br />

- Field opposite North Drive should be developed at the other side of<br />

Sherburn.<br />

- Only people to benefit will be the developer, shareholders <strong>and</strong> the<br />

farmer.<br />

- Jobs promised on Sherburn industrial estate have never<br />

materialised.<br />

- House prices are depressed in the area due to the number that are<br />

already for sale in Sherburn.<br />

2.1 Section 38(6) of the Planning <strong>and</strong> Compulsory Purchase Act 2004<br />

states "if regard is to be had to the development plan for the purpose of<br />

any determination to be made under the planning Acts the<br />
