A Superior Court judge ruled
Monday that Gates could return
to work, temporarily staying the
Police Commission furlough.
Gates' .. attorneys released transcripts
by a shorthand reporter of
the commission meeting to support
their case that the furlough
was made without good cause.
In addition, the chiefs lawyers
say the commission violated the
state's open meeting law, or
Brown· Act, by meeting privately
the day before the hearing without
public notice.
