Vaccinations
Spay / Neuter
When should I start vaccinations for my pet?
Cats should receive their first vaccination at
6-8 weeks of age. Vaccinations are repeated at
2-4 week intervals until the cat is 12-16 weeks
old.
Dogs should receive their first vaccination at
6-8 weeks of age. Vaccinations are repeated at
3-4 week intervals until the dog is 12-16 weeks
old.
No vaccinations give life-long protection. We
recommend you contact your veterinarian to
determine a vaccination schedule.
What can I expect after my pet receives
vaccination?
It is normal after vaccinations for pets to have a
low-grade fever and muscle aches. The pet may
eat less and sleep more 24-48 hours after. Rarely,
pets will have an allergic reaction, such as hives,
swelling of the face, vomiting, or diarrhea. Severe
reactions, if untreated, can result in death. If your
pet has any of the aforementioned symptoms,
please take your pet to the nearest emergency
clinic for immediate treatment. Notify your
veterinarian so he or she can take steps to prevent
a recurrence with your pet’s future vaccinations.
