12 th Annual Walk for Animals Raised Record Amount<br />

Nearly $300,000 will help to continue care for animals in need<br />

Thous<strong>and</strong>s of animal lovers <strong>and</strong> their animal<br />

companions (dogs, snakes, lizards <strong>and</strong> even<br />

donkeys!) returned to Fiesta Isl<strong>and</strong>,<br />

Saturday, May 13, <strong>2006</strong> for the 12 th annual Walk<br />

for Animals sponsored by Ralphs, PETCO, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

PETCO Foundation.<br />

This year walkers raised a record amount of<br />

funds, nearly $300,000 (compared to $262,000 the<br />

previous year) to help support the animals <strong>and</strong> the<br />

vital community programs <strong>and</strong> services of the<br />

<strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>SPCA</strong>.<br />

Congratulations to Marianne Harmon, our<br />

“Top Dog Fundraiser” for the eighth year in a row,<br />

who raised nearly $18,000! We’d also like to thank<br />

our second <strong>and</strong> third place fundraisers, Stephen<br />

Schwartz, who raised more than $6,000 <strong>and</strong> Cindy<br />

Curtin who raised more than $5,000.<br />

A sincere thank you to all the walkers, v<strong>ol</strong>unteers<br />

<strong>and</strong> sponsors who worked hard to make this year’s<br />

Walk for Animals the most successful to date!<br />

We are grateful for the generosity of our sponsors<br />

who helped make this event possible!<br />
