PETCO Foundation Makes Million-Dollar Gift to San Diego
Humane Society and SPCA to Help Local Pets in Need

and welfare in San Diego
County, PETCO and the PETCO
Foundation announced a $1 million
grant to support the San Diego
Humane Society and SPCA this past
May. The grant, to be funded over
five years, will benefit lifesaving
animal welfare programs, pet adoption
services, and animal rescue services
at the San Diego Humane Society
and SPCA’s three campuses at Gaines
Street and Sherman Street in San
Diego and in North County at San
Luis Rey Road in Oceanside.
As the San Diego Humane Society’s
largest corporate sponsor, PETCO
and the PETCO Foundation have
helped enrich the lives of countless
animals and people during their many
years supporting the organization.
This generous gift marks the PETCO
Foundation’s second $1 million grant
to the San Diego Humane Society. The
current grant follows the culmination
of a previous five-year funding
commitment made in 2004. PETCO
and the PETCO Foundation have also
supported the San Diego Humane

Peace of Mind
One of the benefits of having a valid will is the peace
of mind you experience. To know that a plan is in
place and that you have made arrangements for the
needs of your loved ones and favorite charities, and that you
have arranged your affairs thoughtfully, can allow you to sleep
just a little more comfortably at night.

After all, a will takes time. One must find a good attorney,
create a summary of assets and then make decisions about
how the assets will be disbursed. There are family members to
consider, charitable causes to support, and of course, applicable
tax laws to bear in mind. And then there is the question of who
will administer the estate and who will serve as trustee of any
trusts. It’s so much easier to let things slide, to take care of the
will later. However, should you leave no will in place, the state
will decide how your assets will be distributed.
While it’s true that getting your last will and testament
finalized will demand some time and effort, the peace of mind
you will experience makes it all worthwhile – peace of mind
for you and peace of mind for your loved ones.
