13 th Annual Walk for Animals Raises Record Amount<br />

Over $300,000 will help to continue care for animals in need!<br />

Thous<strong>and</strong>s of animal lovers <strong>and</strong> their animal companions gathered at Crown<br />

Point Shores, Mission Bay for the 13 th Annual Walk for Animals sponsored<br />

by Ralphs, PETCO, <strong>and</strong> the PETCO Foundation. This year walkers raised a<br />

record amount of funds, topping $300,000 to help support the animals <strong>and</strong> the vital<br />

community programs <strong>and</strong> services of the <strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>SPCA</strong>.<br />

Congratulations to Marianne Harmon, our “Top Dog Fundraiser” for the ninth<br />

year in a row, who raised $11,775 for the animals! We’d also like to congratulate our<br />

second <strong>and</strong> third place fundraisers, Cindy Curtain, who raised $5,300 <strong>and</strong> Charles<br />

Kunze who raised more than $2,836. The top fundraising teams were Team Zion<br />

Paws, who raised $3,526, <strong>and</strong> Team GEICO who raised $3,387 (with matching<br />

corporate gifts).<br />

A sincere thank you to all the walkers, v<strong>ol</strong>unteers <strong>and</strong> sponsors who worked hard<br />

to make this year’s Walk for Animals the most successful to date!<br />
