Another successful Humane Academy on the books! Forty-nine Humane Officers from across California graduated from the
two-week long Humane Academy in August. The San Diego Humane Society’s Humane Academy is one of only two offered in
California. The academy covers a range of topics from animal handling to evidence collecting to ensure these students are at the
forefront of animal welfare issues and laws. Real life scenarios are simulated to bring classroom training into action, putting
these graduates on the path towards a new career or continuing their career education.

932 Animals “Fell in Love” this Fall!
932 animals found love during September and October’s “Fall in Love” animal
adoption campaign. The San Diego Humane Society teamed up with Escondido
Humane, Chula Vista Animal Care, and the San Diego County Department of
Animal Services to increase awareness of
animal adoption and help more animals,
like Prince and Abby, find loving homes.
“Abby was in our care for 478 days and
Prince for 226 days,” said Elkie Wills of the
San Diego Humane Society. “They’re both
very special dogs and they touched a lot of
people here. We’re so happy they found their
fairytale homes!” The San Diego Humane
Society is committed to caring for each animal
as long as it takes to get them adopted, and

Must Love Kittens!
If you love kittens, then you’ll love the 2 nd season of the show
“Must Love Cats” on Animal Planet! The cast and crew paid a
visit to the San Diego Humane Society’s Paws Kitten Nursery to
feature the uniqueness of the Paws to Success Program.
The show’s host, John Fulton, spent two purrfect days in San
Diego feeding and playing with the kittens. He even snuggled up
and sang them to sleep! Fulton was wowed by the wonderful care
that goes into preparing these tiny kittens for their future homes.
The episode airs in February, stay tuned for the exact date. You
won’t want to miss this behind-the-scenes look at the love and care
that these kitties receive daily at the Paws Nursery.
