Neil Findlay (Lothian) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Executive how many full-scale responses have been required at HMP Addiewell since it opened and what the cause was in each case. (S4W-04829) Kenny MacAskill: I have asked John Ewing, Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS), to respond. His response is as follows: There have been no “full-scale” responses required at HMP Addiewell since it opened in 2008. The SPS defines a “full-scale” or Level 3 incident as one that requires a full (prison) command structure which will require additional resources and back up services to be deployed. Neil Findlay (Lothian) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Executive how many full-scale responses have been required at prisons other than HMP Addiewell in the last five years. (S4W-04830) Kenny MacAskill: I have asked John Ewing, Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service, to respond. His response is as follows: There have been no “full-scale” responses at prisons in the last five years, inclusive of HMP Addiewell. All incidents have been resolved locally without recourse to a full Incident Command response from the Scottish Prison Service. Patricia Ferguson (Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Executive what progress it is making in maximising the potential for parents to access and sustain good quality employment and what progress was made in the previous parliamentary session. (S4W-04995) Aileen Campbell: The Scottish Government is committed to supporting everyone who wants to work to do so. Scotland currently has the highest rate of working households with children of any part the UK. The employment rate for lone parents in Scotland has also risen from 56.3% in 2007 to 56.8% in 2010. Our Early Years Framework affirms that high quality, affordable and accessible early learning and childcare is key both for children’s development and to enable parents to balance work and family life. A number of organisations receive Scottish Government funding to provide a wide range of support, including benefit advice, to individuals and families. These include: One Parents Families Scotland; Parenting in Scotland; Citizens Advice Direct; Contact-a-Family, and
The Family Nurse Partnership. Roderick Campbell (North East Fife) (Scottish National Party): To ask the Scottish Executive what recent discussions it has had with the UK Government regarding the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme Review announced in 2010. (S4W-05097) Kenny MacAskill: The UK Government has not yet published its proposed changes to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme. Scottish Government officials are in regular contact with the Ministry of Justice and the most recent meeting was on 23 <strong>January</strong> <strong>2012</strong>. Drew Smith (Glasgow) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the answer to the supplementary to question S4F-00316 by the First Minister on 1 December 2011 (Official Report, c. 4225) when it will seek a debate in the parliament on human trafficking. (S4W-05135) Kenny MacAskill: The Scottish Government is currently considering the recommendations contained within the report referred to on 1 December and others on the same subject. A date for the debate will be announced in due course. Strategy and External Affairs Graeme Dey (Angus South) (Scottish National Party): To ask the Scottish Executive what its performance was in answering ministerial correspondence in the second and third quarters of 2011. (S4W-05265) Brian Adam: In the period May and June 2011, 2882 letters were received by ministers and 92% received a reply within our target of 20 working days. In the period July to September 2011, 7,217 letters were received by ministers and 92% received a reply within our target of 20 working days.
