As part of the development of the proposal, staff identified some possible regulatory obstacles as
they relate to the co-mingling of Medi-Cal rides with ADA riders. In a conversation with
Monterey Salinas Transit, we were informed that they “do not provide Medi-Cal reimbursed trips
because we use 5310 funded vehicles, and are prohibited from doing so”. As a result of this
information, staff has requested that Community Bridges provide written confirmation from the
State that Medi-Cal trips can be co-mingled, and confirmation from Caltrans that there is no
problem co-mingling Medi-Cal rides on FTA 5310 funded vehicles (the type used by
Community Bridges) before any co-mingling can proceed.
