Aberrant Gene Expression in AML 729
in human leukemia. We found that the expression levels of a number of
proto-oncogenes vary greatly between normal hematopoietic cells and
leukemic cells. From evidence in the literature and from our own studies, we
think that the detection of inappropriate proto-oncogene expression in
hematopoietic cells by RNA in situ hybridization technologies is potentially
sensitive enough to detect residual leukemic cells in remission marrow.
