WRESTLING<br />
1. The <strong>League</strong> will sponsor a championship in each classification that has at least twelve of its schools<br />
participating. If this requirement is not met, schools may enter the tournament of the next higher<br />
classification.<br />
2. National Federation Wrestling <strong>Rules</strong> shall govern all wrestling in <strong>South</strong> <strong>Carolina</strong> except as modified<br />
by <strong>League</strong> Regulations.<br />
NOTE: <strong>School</strong>s are reminded of the uniform requirements specified in the rules.<br />
NOTE: The rules strongly recommend that protective headgear be used in all practices.<br />
The headgear will be required in all competition.<br />
3. The head coach must attend a <strong>League</strong> sponsored rules clinic. All coaches must verify with their<br />
principal completion of the online concussion course found at www.nfhslearn.com.<br />
4. IMPORTANT DATES:<br />

First Scrimmage ..........................................November 5<br />
First Contest................................................November 26<br />
Eligibility Due...............................................7 days prior to first regular season match<br />
If a school is participating in a preseason tournament more than seven days prior to its first regular<br />
season match, the certificate of eligibility must be submitted before participation in this tournament.<br />
NOTE: Second semester eligibility begins when first semester classes are dismissed,<br />
grades are final and when the student is added to the certificate of eligibility form signed by<br />
the principal.<br />
5. Officials certified by the <strong>League</strong> must be used in all varsity matches. Instructions for postponing or<br />
canceling matches in which certified officials are booked are printed on B-79.<br />
6. Weight Classes will be as listed in the rules book. ( NOTE: New weight classes)<br />
NOTE: A student may not wrestle more than one class above his actual weight.<br />
NOTE: A school may enter only one contestant in each weight division.<br />
7. WEIGHT CONTROL:<br />
Weight Management program for 2012-13 season:<br />
a. Test Date - June 1 st will be the first date that testing may occur for the upcoming wrestling<br />
season. A school assessor can test athletes during the summer months and then put the<br />
information in the Optimal Performance Calculator on the NWCA website<br />
(www.nwcaonline.com).<br />
b. Testing Athletes - All wrestlers in grades 9-12 will be tested by an assessor and have their<br />
data entered into the OPC.<br />
c. Competition Data Weigh In Sheet- The SCHSL has mandated the use of a competition data<br />
Weigh In sheet for all weigh-ins. To access this sheet, login into the OPC through<br />
www.nwcaonline.com. Under the Coaches Tab at the top, you can select “Competition<br />
Date/Record Sheet”. Select that option. On the next page, use the first link that says “Create<br />
Pre-Match Weigh-in Sheet”. Clink on that link. Enter in the date of the competition you want to<br />
make a weigh in sheet for and the name and click “NEXT”. Print off the list of wrestlers<br />
created.<br />
d. Documentation - Each head coach will be responsible for having an Alpha Master Sheet and<br />
Competition Data Weigh In Sheet.. The Alpha Master sheet contains a list of all wrestlers who<br />
have passed the test and give the minimum weight that they can compete in the season. The<br />
Competition Data Weigh In Sheet is a list of the lowest weight class that your wrestlers can be<br />
on the day of that competition. These sheets can be printed off the NWCA Website using the<br />
B-31
