Austrian Woodcarving Weeks <strong>2012</strong><br />

Non-Carvers <strong>Programme</strong><br />

30th Sep. - 21st Oct.<br />

Choose to take part 1,2 or 3 weeks, with the possibility to join a tour to<br />

South Tyrol. Learn how to carve and sculpt the Austrian way, and take the<br />

opportunity to have a gilding/painting class during the third week.<br />

Carvers <strong>Programme</strong><br />

Sunday Arrival – meet your new carving friends at school.<br />

There will be tutored carving from Monday to Saturday lunch each<br />

week. This should give you ample opportunity to finish your carvings. Also<br />

use the possibility to join the special theory classes which are held<br />

parallel to the practical class.<br />

Weekly schedule for the full day course:<br />

Sun 18.00 meet your tutor for the week.<br />

Mon to Fri 08.30 –12.00 and 13.30 to 18.00<br />

Sat 08.30 –12.00<br />

Afternoon tea and coffee 15.30 –16.00<br />

Weekly schedule for half day courses:<br />

Sunday 18.00 meet your tutor for the week<br />

Mon to Sat 08.30 - 12.00<br />

Since this might be a longer course than<br />

usual, here are some ideas of how you can<br />

use your time to best advantage:<br />

- Use your own ideas for a project<br />

- Work on a bigger project<br />

- Learn more practical and theoretical skills<br />

- Start Professional training<br />

- Finish your carving by stain, watercolours or wax<br />

There may be a possibility that you could join in the day tours of the non<br />

carving participants depending on space – please let us know if you are<br />

interested.<br />

Students who attend a half day<br />

class could of course also join<br />

the non-carvers programme in<br />

the afternoon, details see next<br />

column.<br />

Don't miss the fantastic tour to<br />

South Tyrol on the 6th and 7th of<br />

October, with visits to many<br />

carving venues!!<br />

For the non-carving people accompanying, we as always, offer a<br />

programme with some nice tours and other fun stuff in the surrounding<br />

area. Of course this is also an option for half day course participants.<br />

Each week we will make 3 excurions to interesting places nearby the<br />

school. They will all take place in the afternoon.<br />

Several small handicraft venues are waiting for us to explore them. A visit<br />

to a cheesery, a glass etching workshop, a trip up the mountain, a herb<br />

walk and the making of a herb pillow or cooking something special from<br />

Austria with Hilde are all possible programme points.<br />

Don't forget you can also sign up to the Wednesday tour – details see<br />

below.<br />

For the free days, there will of<br />

course also be enough time to<br />

relax or to do other things like<br />

hiking, Nordic Walking (poles are<br />

provided), rent a bike for the lovely<br />

roads along the river Lech etc..<br />

Please also note the opportunity to<br />

book treatments in the Spa of the<br />

comfortable Hotel Alpenrose next to the school – so don't forget your<br />

swimming costume.<br />

Please let us know if you would like to take part in this programme when<br />

booking! At least 4 participants necessary.<br />

Weekly Excursions:<br />

Every week on Wednesday we will<br />

give you the opportunity to take<br />

part in a bigger full day trip, for an<br />

extra fee. The woodcarvers, of<br />

course, can also choose to join in.<br />

You can sign up for these trips on<br />

your arrival, or you can let us know<br />

when booking.<br />

Wednesday 3 of October – Visit to<br />

Mainau the world famous Flower<br />

Island in Lake Constanz, at this time of the year you can see the Dahlias<br />

show.<br />

Wednesday 10 of October – Tour to Neuschwanstein the Castle of King<br />

Ludwig of Bavaria – and the mediveal city of Füssen.<br />

Wednesday 17 of October – Trip to the exquisite hunting castle<br />

“Linderhof” and to Oberammergau, famous for the Passion Play and the<br />

large number of woodcarvers.<br />
