<strong>IB</strong> Mission St<strong>at</strong>ement<br />
The Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Baccalaure<strong>at</strong>e aims to develop<br />
inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who<br />
help to cre<strong>at</strong>e a better and more peaceful world through<br />
intercultural understanding and respect.<br />
To this end the organiz<strong>at</strong>ion works with schools,<br />
governments and intern<strong>at</strong>ional organiz<strong>at</strong>ions to develop<br />
challenging programmes of intern<strong>at</strong>ional educ<strong>at</strong>ion and<br />
rigorous assessment.<br />
These programmes encourage students across the<br />
world to become active, compassion<strong>at</strong>e and lifelong<br />
learners who understand th<strong>at</strong> other people, with their<br />
differences, can also be right.<br />

Overview of the <strong>IB</strong> programs<br />
The <strong>IB</strong> offers three high quality and challenging educ<strong>at</strong>ional programs for a<br />
worldwide community of schools. The <strong>IB</strong> currently works with more than<br />
971,000 students <strong>at</strong> 3,293 schools in 141 countries.<br />
<strong>IB</strong> Diploma Programme for students in the final two years<br />
of secondary school<br />
There are 744 Diploma Programmes in the US,<br />
2,295 in the world.<br />
<strong>IB</strong> Middle Years Programme for students ages 11 – 16<br />
There are 445 Middle Years Programmes in the US,<br />
917 in the world.<br />

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a curriculum which<br />
allows students to develop the knowledge, <strong>at</strong>titudes, and skills they<br />
need to particip<strong>at</strong>e effectively in life in the 21 st century. The concept<br />
of balance is fundamental to the program.<br />
