Arrington said that as a small city, Davenport has been struggling with the double whammy of a
15 percent reduction in ad valorem property tax revenues over the past two years, and the halt of
new growth caused by the crisis in the real estate market.
At the same time, she said, the city is struggling to improve its infrastructure, to rebuild a police
station that was destroyed during the 2004 hurricane season and to maintain its parks and other
facilities.
"We have some projects that are ready," she said, adding that she is optimistic that at least some
of the stimulus money will trickle down far enough to reach the small city.
"We are looking forward to potentially capturing some money," she said.
