Surrender value
The (reduced) value of an insurance policy if it is
cashed (surrendered) before the agreed term has
expired.
Suspended from work:
Temporarily dismissed from a job usually for
disciplinary reasons.

Tax deductible:
Expenses deducted from income so as to arrive at
taxable income.
Tax file number:
A unique number given out by the Tax Office to
every taxpayer.
Tax free limit:
That part of a person's income not subjected to
income tax.
Tax rebate:
A reduction in the amount of tax otherwise payable.
Tax threshold:
The income level at which income becomes taxable.
Telephone Allowance:
This is to help with the cost of line rental for a
telephone, for people who hold a Pensioner
Concession Card or Commonwealth Seniors Health
Card, and who have a telephone connected in their
name.
Temporarily Separated Couple:
A couple living separately and apart but not on a
permanent basis and not an illness separated couple.
Temporary employee:
Person who is employed full-time or part-time for a
limited period.
Temporary Visa:
Permission for a person to enter and remain in
Australia for a specific period of time and for a
specific reason. Holders of these visas are not
permitted to remain permanently in Australia and
are generally not entitled to social security
payments. The visa will also state whether the
holder can be employed whilst in Australia.
