Graham Cawsey reported that he had <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>cluded this item <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Agenda to<br />

Stuart Craig referred to his communicati<strong>on</strong> to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g>, before <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

September <str<strong>on</strong>g>Council</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g</str<strong>on</strong>g>. He reiterated that some <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

had requested an opportunity to hold meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>gs without Directors. He <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>vited<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> to c<strong>on</strong>sider:<br />

1. Do <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> wish to hold a meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g without <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Directors?<br />

2. If so, how and when will <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g take place?<br />

The <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> engaged <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> a discussi<strong>on</strong> and noted <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> ma<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> reas<strong>on</strong>s for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

request:<br />

a. Create an opportunity to become more acqua<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ted with each o<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>r.<br />

b. Create an opportunity to discuss as a group <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> governor role and<br />

understand <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir duties.<br />

c. Discuss more <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>formal items that may not be <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>cluded <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Council</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> Agenda.<br />

d. Discuss items <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g> private because <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Council</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>gs are<br />

There was no c<strong>on</strong>sensus to hold a meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g without Directors, but from those<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> who expressed an <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>terest to hold a meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g without Directors <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

majority <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>dicated a preference for a workshop approach, with a clear focus <strong>on</strong><br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>tended outcome. Glenn Cornish noted that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> Staff <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> are<br />

already meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g as a group.<br />

Dr Maurice Brooks noted that governors have a specific duty to represent <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

po<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>ts <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> view <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir c<strong>on</strong>stituencies and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>se issues should be discussed at<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Council</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Governors</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Meet<str<strong>on</strong>g>in</str<strong>on</strong>g>g</str<strong>on</strong>g>.<br />

Graham Cawsey thanked every<strong>on</strong>e for <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>ir comments. He proposed that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Board and Governor Workshop <strong>on</strong> Wednesday 28 January is used to hold an<br />
