About us<br />
The Community Forensic Service is a specialist service.<br />
Our aim is to support people who use our service, their<br />
carers <strong>and</strong> other professionals assess <strong>and</strong> manage high<br />
risk complex behaviour.<br />
The Forensic Services from the three founder Trusts<br />
combined to provide a comprehensive integrated <strong>Surrey</strong>wide<br />
Specialist Service.<br />
One Specialist Service; two specialist teams. The team<br />
based in Chertsey cover North <strong>and</strong> South West <strong>Surrey</strong>, the<br />
team based in Dorking cover East <strong>and</strong> Mid <strong>Surrey</strong>.
Services<br />
Mental health assessment <strong>and</strong> advice to Police custody<br />
areas <strong>and</strong> Magistrates Courts.<br />
Liaison, advice <strong>and</strong> support to CMHRS,, Teams for<br />
Learning Disabilities <strong>and</strong> in-patient services.<br />
Specialist assessments, risk assessments <strong>and</strong> joint work<br />
with other professionals.<br />
Inter-agency working with the Criminal Justice System<br />
(including Probation), MAPPA <strong>and</strong> Statutory Agencies.<br />
Advice <strong>and</strong> support to service users <strong>and</strong> their carers
People who use our Service<br />
Service users are adults aged 16 years <strong>and</strong> over who<br />
have a diagnosis of mental illness <strong>and</strong> who have<br />
committed a serious offence; are suspected of, or alleged<br />
to have committed a serious offence; or are deemed at<br />
risk of doing so.<br />
Service users must meet the above criteria <strong>and</strong> reside<br />
within the Trust boundaries.<br />
Potential service users who are detainees at Police<br />
Stations in Guildford, Woking, Reigate, Staines or at<br />
Magistrates Courts within these areas are assessed on<br />
request, irrespective of origin or address
Referrals<br />
Referrals must meet criteria for acceptance secondary<br />
mental health services<br />
Referral guidelines are available to assist referrers<br />
Persons will be considered where their offence, or<br />
potential offence, is of a serious or violent nature; where<br />
there is a high risk of serious harm to others.<br />
Referrals may come from a range of sources, including,<br />
but not limited to, CMHRS, In-patient Services, Early<br />
Intervention in Psychosis/CYPS Teams, Assertive<br />
Outreach

Specialist Psychology<br />
Specialist Nursing<br />
Specialist Social Work<br />
Admin/Secretarial support <strong>and</strong> access to other health<br />
resources
External Liaison <strong>and</strong> <strong>Partnership</strong><br />
Prisons<br />
Specialist High, Medium <strong>and</strong> Low Secure Hospitals.<br />
Detention areas at the Police Station or Magistrates Court,<br />
Probation, Solicitors or Court Detention Officers.<br />
Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).<br />
Private Sector Providers.<br />
The Ministry of Justice.<br />
