CG Controller (CCD Group Controller)
− Control of the exposure by way of loads / sensors
(e.g. turning CCD, shutter motor)
− Black value corrections (control of the voltage for
the SW balance for CCD)
− Dark and light current measurements
− Preprocessing of the image data of the CCD
(Digitising of the image data)
− Transfer of the image data: After the AD
conversion, the image data is preprocessed in
the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array),
multiplexed 4:1 and transmitted to the image
processing card (VIPS) in the Main-PC in the via
an LVDS interface.
− Setting the clock phase for the AD conversion
See CG Controller and LEDs in Register 4.2.
Properties:
− SAB 167CR as Microcontroller
− 1Mbyte Flash to store codes and data (externally
programmable by means of a Bootstrap logic).
The Flash also holds the programming of the
FPGA.
− 1Mbyte SRAM for data
− CAN-Bus for the communication with other
components of the SC-Hardware
− Digital inputs/outputs to control the loads and
check the sensors
− FPGA (freely programmable logic): Control of the
CCD and preprocessing of the image by the CCD
− Four fast AD converters with a 12 Bit resolution
for the image signals from the four quadrants of
the CCD
− Transmission of the image data to the Main-PC
via multiplexed LVDS lines
− Transmission of the control signals to the CCD
board via differential lines
− D/A converter for the adjustment of the black
value on the CCD
− I²C-EEPROM to store board-specific data, e.g.
board numbers
