Award for successful referral<br />
When the referred employee is hired and has completed six months on the job, the $1,000 award<br />
will be paid to the referring employee as soon as administratively possible. Award amounts are<br />
included in the employee’s pay check and are taxable (included in gross income).<br />
An employee cannot earn more than $5,000 annually in referral awards. No more than $1,000<br />
will be paid for any single referral that results in a hire.<br />
If the candidate is hired into a position other than the one he or she was referred for, the referring<br />
employee will receive a $500 award, less applicable taxes.<br />
The hiring manager’s cost center will be charged.<br />

Process<br />
Before referring a candidate, employees should consider his or her:<br />
work experience<br />
educational background<br />
employment record<br />
experience in position being referred to<br />
possible fit for position and Alcoa’s culture<br />
<strong>Employee</strong>s must follow the referral process in order to be eligible for the referral award:<br />
1. Fill out referral form (available through links on HRDirect or <strong>MyAlcoaBenefits</strong>.com).<br />
Information needed to fill out referral form:<br />
a. candidate’s name and email address<br />
b. relationship with candidate<br />
c. how long employee has known candidate<br />
d. current open position candidate is being referred for<br />
e. why they are being recommended<br />
2. Candidate will then be sent an email indicating they have been referred for a position<br />
at Alcoa and requesting that they<br />
a. fill out the online application via hyperlink<br />
b. submit a cover letter and resume<br />
c. respond to a series of pre-screening questions<br />
The candidate will receive notification when application status is determined.<br />
d. <strong>Employee</strong>s will learn of their referral’s status only if the referred candidate is<br />
hired for the position for which they were referred, or for another position, within<br />
a 12-month period.<br />
3. The new hire must be actively employed for six months in order for the employee to<br />
receive their referral award.<br />
4. The Global Recruiting Leader will resolve any eligibility issues that arise during this<br />
process.<br />
