has been reproduced on the back <strong>of</strong> the h<strong>and</strong>, even to<br />

that <strong>of</strong> the fingers. ISTails normal. Second <strong>and</strong> third<br />

phalanges a good deal wasted. Muscles <strong>of</strong> thumb a good<br />

deal wasted (say two-thirds), except flexor brevis, which<br />

is <strong>of</strong> nearly normal size.<br />

Nutrition.— Eight biceps, eight <strong>and</strong> five-eighths inches ;<br />

left, nine <strong>and</strong> one-eighth. Right forearm, three inches<br />

below olecranon, eight <strong>and</strong> five-eighths inches; left, nine<br />

<strong>and</strong> one-quarter.<br />

Ilis nervousness is entirely gone, <strong>and</strong> lie is perfectly<br />

well mentally.<br />

Electro-muscular sensibility is greater in right than in<br />

left arm throughout. Electro-muscular contractility very<br />

markedly diminished in right arm from shoulder down<br />

to h<strong>and</strong>. It is not more than one-half. He can use hish<strong>and</strong><br />

so as to h<strong>and</strong>le a fork. Could use a knife, but wasalways<br />

left-h<strong>and</strong>ed holds a book well<br />

can touch every finger-tip with thumb.<br />

The temperature, taken April 20, 1867, was as follows:<br />

July 1, 1863, a ball entered the right wrist,,<br />

three <strong>and</strong> a half inches above the styloid process <strong>of</strong> theradius,<br />

<strong>and</strong> made exit one inch above styloid process <strong>of</strong><br />

ulna, breaking both bones, but injuring no large vessel.<br />

The arm was on a splint for six weeks without change or<br />

passive motion, during which time many fragments <strong>of</strong><br />

bone escaped. When admitted, the wrist was thickened
