Dear Parents,
Last week Grade 5 visited the Al Noor Centre for Children with Special Needs. The trip was an excellent opportunity
for the students to connect with the community. Also they had
taken gifts bought off their allowances and pocket money and thus highlighted
the spirit of sharing and caring. Afterwards they wrote a report
about the trip which was part of their English writing exercise. It was a
truly enlightening experience for the students of Grade 5.
They also had a tennis workshop where
the students were able to hone their
skills with the experts who were in the
school. We are hoping to see some becoming
the future Nadals, Fedderers
and Kournikovas. Good Luck there!!!
On the academic front, the assessments have begun. Students have sat for
their English and math, and social studies and science will follow in the
coming weeks.
Enquiry activity in science has started, too. This semester the students are working on “The Scientific Method”
to investigate the effect of light (warmth) on the germination of seeds.
They will be able to grow, observe, collect data and consolidate their findings
in a journal at the end of the enquiry.
At present, the unit on Australia is on. The students will make a timeline
on the history of Australia as well as research various aspects of the
country like physical features, territories,
capitals, cities etc. This will surely
keep them busy for the next few
weeks.
We are happy to note that homework is coming in regularly and students
are taking ownership of their work and thus becoming more independent
and self-disciplined. We are so proud of you Grade 5!!!
