GENERAL NURSERY KG JUNIOR SCHOOL EVENTS CALENDAR A S A ARABIC & ISLAMIC Dear Parents, Wow! Our mid-term break is nearly upon us. Where has the time gone? ‘Time flies when you are having fun.’ We are introducing a new tree to our Montessori environment. This is called our Festivities Tree. Children‟s work will be displayed on the tree when they do arts and crafts relating to the different festivities from around the world. First to come is Diwali, then Eid. Please visit the tree; it will be located in the hall outside the nursery office. The children had a visit on the 20 th October by Ms Lesley Cully, the founder of the campaign Buckle-Up in the Back. It was very reassuring to see so many hands go up when Lesley asked “How many children sit in a car seats when in their mummies and daddies car”. Fantastic. If you did not receive your car sticker, and would like one please tell you teacher. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for your support in making our Nursery Car Park a safer place. Please read on to see what Casa D and Casa E have been doing the past two weeks. Susie Mcshane Dear Parents, The last couple of weeks have been very busy and eventful for the children of Casa D. The children are doing wonderfully and are a joy to teach. This month we had a visit from two characters from the book fair, a man on stilts and a juggler. There were many surprised faces. The children are eager to try and learn new things this term. Practical life has been one of the main focuses; the children have been busy pouring and spooning; subconsciously developing their concentration and muscles in their hand and wrist. Lastly we had a great presentation about BUCKLING-UP which focused on the importance of safety in the car. It will be beneficial to the children if you also talk about this issue at home and to reinforce the awareness of what it takes to stay safe. We will be asking the children to make sure that they are strapped into their car seats during journeys at all times; whether it is a short journey or not. Sarah & Lorna Dear Parents, Since the end of the phasing - in period we have spent 4 weeks working really hard to establish a good foundation for good behavior in the classroom. Our board has been titled “The 7 Habits of Highly Charming Children”. We have been working towards turning classroom rules into everyday habits. Habits such as walking, low voices, listening and raising our hand before talking. Having these habits in place allows the classroom to become a positive learning environment, where children are free to explore the shelves, choose their own activities and fully focus on the Montessori materials. These habits such as listening are also extremely important during other classroom activities, like circle time or story time. It is a pleasure to see that story time has become a much awaited time of the day, especially since we have discovered a story book which is now a must read. I wouldn‟t be surprised if most parents have already heard plenty about the book Little Rabbit Foo Foo. During last week‟s Buckle up in the Back presentation, the whole of Casa E behaved impressively well, maintaining full attention for the whole duration of the talk. They remembered every word said by the speaker and even a new song I am little Seat Belt, which they sang Thursday for the first time. Well done Casa E, we are now ready for the next challenge. GENERAL NURSERY KG JUNIOR SCHOOL EVENTS CALENDAR CALENDAR A S A ARABIC & ISLAMIC Dear Parents, Casa B has had a very busy time in October. I am happy to say that all the children have settled into the new environment quite happily. They have become very independent in doing their daily chores like putting water bottles in the bottle box, placing folders on top of the shelf, and placing bags in their respective chubby holes. They work like little busybodies all day long. It has been an active month so far with the book fair, bake sale, fire drill practice and dental checkup. The class has been very enthusiastic in their participation in the theme of “Food Pyramid”. I am very proud to say that all of them have been bringing healthy food for their snack and lunch. They have become very conscious of what they are eating and they love to talk about it. Looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and discovery, Aparna Mitra Dear Parents, It has indeed been a lovely start of the new academic year. The children have settled in very well and seem they enjoy coming to school. This term, Casa I has learned about the following themes: All About Me, the Five Senses and the Food Pyramid. In the coming weeks, we will be learning about birds and about Dubai. Children enjoyed visiting the book fair and meeting up with their favourite characters. We are looking forward to our visit to the dental clinic and learning about dental hygiene. In a Montessori environment the children are of different ages and it‟s nice to see all the children coming along so well and helping each other all the time. Maria Montessori often spoke of the enormous potential of the pre- school child when she stated: “for it is in his early years that a man is made.” Meneka Bharaj
