WEEKLY PROCEEDINGS:
Convener Rtn Lim Che Wan, called the weekly meeting to order at sharp 1.00pm as always.
Members do enjoy the buffet lunch at leisure and at the same time, fellowship with others. Do
come early and give yourself time for dessert and fruits. Believe me the food is great.
After greeting the members and making a few announcements Convener Rtn Lim Che Wan
handed the meeting to President Francis Chan. The President was also supported by Club
Service Director Steve Lau.
Total attendance this week was 34 – a poor attendance We believe many members were kept
away by the coming Chinese new Year next week. Every week we need to hit 40 to break even.
Weekly attendance is improving, so members keep it up. Member, do attend and support our
weekly meetings and help the Club to break even at every weekly meeting. We look forward to
40 members on 4th Feb. Guys, let’s make it happen.
LIGHT LAUGHTER
Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Bob.So they loaded up Jack's minivan and headed north. After driving for a few
hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. So they pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive lady who
answered the door if they could spend the night.
I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed,' she
explained.'I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house.'
Don't worry,' Jack said. 'We'll be happy to sleep in the barn. And if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light.'The lady
agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in for the night.
Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they got on their way. They enjoyed a great weekend of skiing.
But about nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but
he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow they had met on the ski weekend.
He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked, 'Bob, do you remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at
on our ski holiday up north about 9 months ago?'
Yes, I do.' said Bob.Did you, er, happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?'
Well, um, yes I did,' Bob said, a little embarrassed about being found out, 'I have to admit that I did.'And did you happen
to give her my name instead of telling her your name?'
Bob's face turned beet red and he said, 'Yeah, look, I'm sorry, buddy. I'm afraid I did.' 'Why do you ask?'
She just died and left me everything.'And you thought the ending would be different, didn't you?...now keep that smile for
the rest of the day!)
While working at a pizza parlour I observed a man ordering a small pizza togo. He appeared to be alone and the cook
asked him if he would like it cutinto 4 pieces or 6. He thought about it for some time before responding.'Just cut it into 4
pieces; I don't think I'm hungry enough to eat 6 pieces
HEALTHY INFO
For people who have trouble tolerating milk from cows, almond milk is an excellent substitute. But not all commercially
prepared almond milks are equal in quality. Some brands add enough sugar to their almond milk to make it a poor choice
for people who struggle to keep their blood sugar and insulin at healthy levels. Other brands add synthetic vitamins and
minerals to their almond milk to make it resemble dairy when comparing nutrition facts panels.
Fortunately, it's quite easy to make your own almond milk with all-natural ingredients, and for a fraction of the cost of
store-bought varieties. Here's our simple recipe for all-natural almond milk:
Bulletin of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja
Wednesday, 28th January 2009
Issue 17 – 2008/09 Page 9
Continue on page 10.....

From page 9....
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of raw almonds
4 cups of filtered or spring water
3-5 dates (optional)
Directions:
1. Soak almonds in water for at least six hours.
2. Drain soaked almonds, and blend with 4 cups of fresh water until you get a milk-like consistency. Blend with dates if
you like your milk with a hint of sweetness.
3. Strain once to remove almond granules.
The result is a delicious, creamy milk that's free of added oils, concentrated sugars, and synthetic nutrients. This allnatural
almond milk keeps for 3-4 days in an air-tight jar in the refrigerator.
Please consider sharing this almond milk recipe with people who aren't aware of the many health problems associated
with eating pasteurized dairy products.
Please note that you should refer to your Doctor for advice.
EASY, FAST AND DELICIOUS RECIPE
Healthy Raw Muesli
You're allowed to experiment with different ingredientsfor variety, but here's a good basic recipe to work with:
1 cup organic rolled oats
1/2 cup organic rolled spelt
1/2 cup organic rolled triticale
1/2 cup organic rolled kamut or barley
1/4 cup chopped organic dates
1/4 cup organic raisins, currants, cherries, Goji berries, or cranberries
1 dried organic apricot or pear, chopped (roll in oat flour to prevent stickiness)
1/4 cup raw, whole, organic unblanched almonds
1/4 cup raw organic cashews8-10 organic raw filberts
4 organic raw pecans
In a blender or spice/nut grinder, grind filberts and pecans into coarse crumbs or powder, depending on preference.
Combine all ingredients in an airtight container.
For each serving, place a heaping 1/3 cup in a bowl and top with your favorite healthy liquid (nut milk, raw milk, juice, etc.)
You're not going to find a muesli or breakfast cereal at the supermarket that could touch this recipe with a thirty-foot pole,
believe me.
