Warnemündes kilometerlanger herrlicher Strand, früher ein Geheimtipp, ist heute weit bekannt, und Segelfreunde schätzen das Revier vor Warnemünde als eines der besten in Europa. STANDORT | LOCATION Almost 800 years old, the Hanseatic and port city is not just the biggest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with its 200,000 residents, it is also the intellectual, cultural and economic centre of the federal state. Since the early 15th century one of the main features of the city centre of Rostock has been its university whose activities are linked to names like Albert Einstein, Max Planck and Heinrich Schliemann. Its nine faculties make Rostock University one of the German universities with the widest range of subjects. Around 15,000 students are currently enrolled here. In addition to them 550 students of the College of Music and Theatre enjoy a sound education here and add to the cultural life of the city. 6–7
