It is the proclaimed aim of the Port Development Company to continue to establish the port as a modern and competitive logistics centre in the southern Baltic. Good prerequisites have already been created for this. Since 1991 hundreds of millions of Euro have been invested in the improvement of the port infrastructure. By attracting large production companies like the crane manufacturer Liebherr and Erndtebrücker Eisenwerke and with the upcoming establishment of further cargo handling, distribution and industrial businesses the location will continue to make its mark in years to come.
