Irish Travellers<br />

The Irish Traveller community was not evenly spread across the country. Galway <strong>County</strong> had<br />

the highest number of Irish Travellers of all the adm<strong>in</strong>istrative counties, with 2,476 persons,<br />

followed by South Dubl<strong>in</strong> with 2,216. In contrast there were only 152 Irish Travellers<br />

enumerated <strong>in</strong> Waterford <strong>County</strong>.<br />

In 2006 there were 320 Irish travellers <strong>in</strong> <strong>Roscommon</strong>. This <strong>in</strong>creased to 396 <strong>in</strong> <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
