and diversity of the town.
Assessment
Population projections were calculated for the RCDP and these were utilised
in the preparation of the information for the Housing Strategy. The Housing
Strategy for County Roscommon provides an indicative distribution of new
household formations of 100 for Elphin over the period of the Plan.
In line with all policies outlined in this document.
Capacity of
Water,
Drainage and
Roads
Infrastructure
Water: Of adequate capacity (See Chapter 4)
Sewerage: Existing treatment works is currently operating at near capacity
and is sub-standard. The current population equivalent of the Elphin
Wastewater Treatment Plant is 400 and the future Upgraded Plant design
population equivalent will be 1820. Construction will commence in 2010.
The expected completion date is early 2012. It is unlikely that any new
large scale development will be permitted until the required Wastewater
Treatment Plant upgrade is operational. The existing wastewater network
has recently been rehabilitated.
