1 2 Congratulations! Add a warm glow to your Lionel railroad’s city streets with these realistic illuminated street lamps. The street lamps operate between 10-14 volts alternating current. They’re easy to install—just follow these simple instructions. Installing your street lamp using a lockon To install your street lamp, begin by attaching a lockon (available separately) to any straight section of track. Fit the center lip of the lockon onto the edge of an outside rail. Press the lockon upward so that the spring contact snaps onto the center rail. The lockon should face outward when setting up your track. Make sure it is firmly connected. To connect the street lamp to the lockon, insert a wire into each loop that emerges when the spring tab on the lockon connector is depressed. Release the tab, and spring pressure will hold the wire in place. It’s also possible to solder the wires to the track. Installing your street lamps using extension wires Your Lionel street lamps also may be connected directly to the transformer by means of extension wires. Several lamps may be connected to the same transformer terminals by wiring them in parallel across two extension wires. Connections may be soldered or twisted securely and then wrapped with electrical tape to avoid short circuits. Extension wires Figure 2.
