5. Technical Competency After completion <strong>of</strong> the course, the trained candidate<br />
would be able to carry out the establishment <strong>of</strong><br />
mulberry garden.<br />
6. Duration 150 hours.<br />
7. Preface Mulberry (Morus spp.) leaf is the chief source <strong>of</strong> feed<br />
for silkworms (Bombyx mori L.). As such mulberry<br />
leaf yield and quality are the most important<br />
determining factors in getting good cocoon<br />
productivity. Mulberry being deep rooted, high<br />
biomass producing perennial plant, proper initial<br />
establishment <strong>of</strong> the garden is important from the<br />
point <strong>of</strong> subsequent growth and leaf yield. To obtain<br />
good quality leaf yield on sustainable basis,<br />
establishment <strong>of</strong> mulberry garden scientifically is<br />
very much essential.<br />
