Manufacturers need to be aware of the big picture – the broad brushstrokes<br />

of <strong>global</strong>ization – but must also pay close attention to the fine details and<br />

differences. <strong>The</strong>y must position themselves very carefully if they w<strong>is</strong>h to<br />

become winners in the process of <strong>global</strong>ization, rather than victims. An<br />

array of strategic options are theoretically open to OEMs in both emerging<br />

and establ<strong>is</strong>hed markets. But not all of them will work for every player in<br />

every context.
