Returning Players
Captain Zack Stedman (6’3”, OH, Riverside, RI) is a two-time AVCA National Player-of-the-Week and has also
earned NECVA New England Player-of-the-Year and ECAC Most Outstanding Player Awards. Stedman was
a huge factor in the Raiders’ reaching the Molten Final 4 in 2006 and will be looked upon to lead the Raiders
once again. Junior Kevin Harrington (6’1”, S, N. Kingstown, RI) will take control of the offense this year
and bring a great deal of poise to the court for the Raiders. His experience of directing the offense will help
the young players gain confidence in every match.
Senior Justin Andreozzi (6’0”, L, Barrington, RI) will be counted as a main player for the Raiders with his
passing and defense. Andreozzi made a big improvement in his ball control game last year and should be
ready to take over the reins as the full time libero. Senior Evan Machos (6’1”, OH, Agawam, MA) should
have a significant role as an all-around player for the Raiders and will be counted on for his experience as
well.
Sophomore Scott Wright (6’7”, MH, Salem, NH) gained valuable experience from last year’s championship
squad and will be counted upon to be a leader of this young team. The experiences from last year should pay
dividends in his play this season in the middle.
New Players
Eight new players will add excitement to the Raiders’ offense and defense. Transfer freshmen Matt Ferreira
(6’5”, MH, Lincoln, RI) and Zach Hansen (6’0”, S, Shelton, CT) should make an immediate impact for RIV
with their maturity. Ferreira’s blocking and hitting and Hansen’s all around ball control and serving will be
a huge plus for Rivier. Freshman Brice Stockman (6’6”, OH, Needham, MA) will not only add power to the
outside hitter position but also ball control on serve receive. Stockman’s height should be an advantage for
RIV in shutting down the opponents’ right side attack as well. Freshman Kyle O’Neill’s (6’0”, L/DS, Long
Beach, NY) beach skills will be a big asset for Rivier. O’Neill will be counted upon to get the offense running
with his passing as well as make some big plays on defense. Freshman Zack Phillips’ (6’5”, MH, Hanover,
VA) offensive versatility will allow the Raiders to diversify their attack putting pressure on the opponents’
defense.
Fellow freshmen Brad Hausmann (6’8”, MH, Shelton, CT) and Andrew Tiner (6’2”, OH, Salem, NH) will
round off the newcomers with needed depth. Hausmann’s block should alter the offense of opponents while
his own offense will be a good option in the middle. Tiner, a New Hampshire two-time Player-of-the-Year,
will pick up a lot of balls with hustle on defense and will be a good addition on serve receive and hitting for
the Raiders.
“This team has the potential to be something special. We are very
big and athletic and size is something this program has never
really had a lot of until this year. We plan on surprising some
teams but it will take a lot of hard work on the court as well
as hard work off the court in understanding what each other is
about. This team has all the tools to be above and beyond last
year’s championship squad.”
—Head Coach Craig Kolek
