D) The Faculty of Economics offers a wide range of training in<br />

entrepreneurship-related subjects for undergraduate students. There is<br />

also a Master programme in Innovation and Project Management for<br />

graduate students organized by the Faculty of Engineering. There isn’t<br />

any centre for professional training and education.<br />

The University is founding partner of NANOFAB, a research centre<br />

focused on applied research in the field of nanotechnology. It has<br />

many labs in the Venice area with advanced scientific equipment<br />

and it performs research activities finalised at industrial exploitation,<br />

based on the needs of local businesses. Another example is the<br />

TESI lab, and its mission is devoted to studies in the field of micro<br />

manufacturing and it has strong links with local industrial associations<br />

and companies.<br />

The University enhances the creation of spin-offs, because they are<br />

the main tools to transfer technology to the market, but the activities<br />

of the spin-off must be clearly separated from the institutional<br />

and commercial activities which researchers can perform within<br />

the University. The Technology Transfer Office offers management<br />

consulting services to researchers willing to start a spin-off company<br />

and helps them in writing the business plan and in contacting industrial<br />

and financial partners.<br />

Start Cube, the incubator of the University of Padua, is a structure<br />

created to facilitate the birth of new enterprise. Start Cube offers<br />

its services to professors, researchers, PhDs and recent graduates<br />

who want to explore the chance of transforming their scientific idea<br />

into a real business, creating a university spin-off. The incubator<br />

supplies furnished spaces and supporting services to the wannabe<br />

entrepreneurs.<br />

E) The University TTO frequently co-operates with Parco Galileo,<br />

a scientific and technological park promoted by the local<br />

Chamber of Commerce, and with Veneto Innovazione, the regional<br />

development agency.<br />

The University was partner of the Veneto region team that<br />

participated in the European network START (Start-up know-how<br />

transfer network), in <strong>cooperation</strong> with Copenhagen, Edinburgh,<br />

Hamburg and Vienna region. The aim of the project, entirely<br />

financed with the European Commission contributes in the area of<br />

PAXIS project, was to analyze the various ways to create innovative<br />

start-ups in the five regions involved and fostering the exchange of<br />

best practices.
