4.2.2.4 University of Split<br />

On February 27 th 2009, Senate of University<br />
of Split adopted the Scientific Strategy of<br />
the University of Split, wherein the need to<br />
increase the number and amount of science<br />
projects with the public sector and the<br />
economy was defined in its objectives and<br />
tasks. Also, one of the objectives of Scientific<br />
strategy is to enable the transfer of knowledge<br />
and technology through: the establishment<br />
of science-technology park, through<br />
licensing, promotion of innovative clusters,<br />
founding of spin-off companies, drafting<br />
of appropriate documents for intellectual<br />
property management, and establishment of<br />
the Technology transfer office.<br />
The Technology transfer office – UTT<br />
(www.utt.hr) was founded within the Tempus<br />
project CREATE “Stimulating Croatia’s<br />
Entrepreneurial Activities and Technology<br />
Transfer in Education”. Its objective is to<br />
become the meeting point of the University<br />
and economy, and to that end, the Office<br />
provides support to researchers in all phases<br />
of technology implementation: from the idea,<br />
invention, process of intellectual property<br />
protection to establishing enterprises and<br />
commercialization of intellectual property.<br />
As part of the European entrepreneurial<br />
network – EEN, the Office offers a wide range<br />
of services to entrepreneurs and scientists.<br />
Office for Science<br />
(www.unist.hr/Default.aspx?alias=www.unist.hr/znanost)<br />
was established in 2007 at the University<br />
of Split within the Tempus project “Capacity<br />
Building for Research in Croatia”. Office of<br />
Science was founded to enable the scientists<br />
and administrators to develop a scientific<br />
strategy of the university, to increase the<br />
involvement of Croatian scientists in research<br />
projects of the European Community, to help<br />
scientists with the application, management<br />
and completion of international projects, in<br />
particular the projects from The Seventh EU<br />
Framework Program.<br />
4.2.2.5 Josip Juraj Strossmayer University<br />
of Osijek<br />

The Strategy of international science-research<br />
projects at the University of Osijek till 2012.<br />
defined the objectives and activities for their<br />
achievement. One of the objectives of the<br />
Strategy is to encourage inclusivity, not exclusivity<br />
of international <strong>cooperation</strong> - the establishment<br />
of interdisciplinary and international network<br />
of researchers at the University level,<br />
which includes the activities for increasing<br />
<strong>cooperation</strong> with the economy through planning<br />
and implementation of intensive knowledge<br />
transfer programs (so-called Knowledge<br />
Management).<br />
The main components of the Program for<br />
technology transfer development at the<br />
University of Osijek are:<br />
1. TEHNOPOLIS - the establishment of the<br />
technology park at the premises of the<br />
former Biotechnical science-education<br />
Center in Osijek;<br />
2. Center for excellence in agriculture<br />
– the establishment of the center which<br />
includes experimental station for conducting<br />
experiments in the fields of agriculture and<br />
food technology;<br />
3. Development of the Technology – development<br />
center in Osijek, which includes the<br />
opening of the Office for technology transfer<br />
at the University campus;<br />
4. Adoption of Regulation act of technology<br />
transfer which regulates the technology<br />
transfer based on the results of publicly<br />
funded research.<br />
Technology Development Centre Osijek<br />
Ltd. – TRC (www.tera.hr) was founded in<br />
2002. as a result of <strong>cooperation</strong> between<br />
Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek,<br />
city of Osijek and Osijek-Baranja County.<br />
The Mission of TRC is:<br />
• Knowledge based development of economy<br />
by using significantly improved existing<br />
technologies (products, services, processes<br />
and procedures with added value);<br />
• Commercialization of publicly funded<br />
researches of the University of Osijek;
