The Technology Transfer Centre (TTC) is<br />

located at the Faculty of Engineering and<br />

was established within Tempus project<br />

UM_JEP-16090-2001 USP, as the first<br />

step towards creation of the Science and<br />

Technology Park Novi Sad. Legally, TTC<br />

is embedded into a wider environment of<br />

NOSIC. The TTC interfaces the University<br />

with enterprises, chambers of commerce,<br />

regional development institutions and local<br />

authorities, as profoundly different systems.<br />

Also, TTC offers a consultancy for researchers<br />

engaged in technology oriented projects,<br />

willing to investigate market potentials of<br />

the developed products, intellectual property<br />

management etc.<br />

The Student Career Development Centre<br />

(www.razvojkarijere.uns.ac.rs) of the<br />

University of Novi Sad provides information<br />

on open positions, internship, scholarships,<br />

volunteering and part-time jobs for<br />

students. Its aim is to connect academic and<br />

business community as well as to improve<br />

the level of employability of students. The<br />

centre organises presentation of companies,<br />

meeetings and discussions with employers<br />

to facilitate internship placements. The<br />

Center also organises workshops, seminars<br />

and trainings aimed at employment skills<br />

development.<br />

The International Relation Office was<br />

formed in 2001 as one of the mechanisms<br />

that were needed to facilitate the growing<br />

participation of the University of Novi Sad<br />

in Bologna-related activities, projects and<br />

reforms. Mobility of students and staff<br />

is the top priority of the office. Besides<br />

international relations activities at the<br />

UNS are carried out at other levels, such<br />

as student organizations, faculties and<br />

departments.<br />

UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurial Studies<br />

(UCES) (www.unescochair.uns.ac.rs) was<br />

established in 1992 with the aim to develop<br />

and promote entrepreneurial culture among<br />

students and young staff as well as in<br />

the wider environment (organization of<br />

public lectures on entrepreneurship and<br />

other forms of Life-long learning at UNS;<br />

workshops, seminars, conferences, training<br />

organized together with chambers of<br />

commerce, NGOs and other stakeholders;<br />

publications, textbooks and different<br />

materials for entrepreneurship promotion).<br />

The first CISCO Entrepreneur Institute<br />

(CEI) in Serbia and Southeast Europe was<br />

opened in Novi Sad in 2009, as a result of<br />

<strong>cooperation</strong> of CISCO, the USAID Serbia<br />

Competitiveness Project and the Faculty of<br />

Technical Sciences. The center delivers CISCOcertified<br />

entrepreneurship education on a<br />

commercial basis to Serbian entrepreneurs,<br />

SMEs and public sector employees in the<br />

following areas: Starting a Business, Growing<br />

a Business, and Business and Public Services<br />

Improvement through ICT.<br />

4.2.1.5 University of Nis<br />

The University of Niš is the educational centre<br />

of the south-eastern part of Serbia. It started<br />

its independent operation in 1965. The<br />

University of Nis is a medium-sized and welldeveloped<br />

academic community comprising<br />

13 academic units. The total number of<br />

students is around 27 000 and of the teaching<br />

staff 1500 (source: TEMPUS report).<br />

Center for Quality Improvement stimulates<br />

and organizes quality improvement in<br />

the academic public, defines standards<br />

and criteria of quality functioning of the<br />

University of Niš, develops processes of<br />

evaluation, self-evaluation and education<br />

quality analysis, gathers information on<br />

quality from all system users, examines the<br />

causes of long and inefficient studying,<br />

develops mechanisms for quality assurance,<br />

supports international <strong>cooperation</strong> and<br />

scientific competitiveness and stimulates<br />

the professional development of teaching<br />

and non-teaching staff.<br />

Center for Career Development was<br />

established in 2008 with the help of Foundation<br />

of Crown Prince Alexander for Education and<br />

the University of Nottingham, in order to<br />

support students of all levels in development<br />

of skills and abilities that are crucial for their<br />

employment, as well as to provide information<br />

on education and scholarship opportunities,<br />

both national and international. The main role<br />
