o Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor: Conduct fundamental and applied research in solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs),<br />

proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) and lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicle<br />

propulsion and auxiliary power units (APUs).<br />

o Director, Center for Sustainable Mobility: Investigate use <strong>of</strong> bi<strong>of</strong>uels for vehicle propulsion, onboard<br />

power generation and stationary applications, including fuel reforming to produce feedstock<br />

for fuel cells.<br />

o Partner with New York State companies to identify opportunities for energy use reduction and<br />

pollution mitigation, through recovery <strong>of</strong> waste heat, waste-to-energy conversion processes<br />

(including anaerobic digestion, fermentation, etc.), and separation processes.<br />

o Advise undergraduate co-op students from RIT undergraduate programs and M.S./Ph.D. students<br />

General Motors Corporation, Electrochemical Energy Research Laboratory, 2001-2009<br />

o Laboratory Group Manager: Coordinated and led activities <strong>of</strong> engineers in the U.S and Germany<br />

dedicated to fuel cell stack water management fundamentals, design concepts, gas diffusion media<br />

and bipolar plate materials, and process development. Managed annual group budget <strong>of</strong> ~ $3 million.<br />

o Facilitated and monitored external research projects with universities, national laboratories and<br />

technology companies, totaling nearly $7 million.<br />

o Conducted research related to fuel cell stack diagnostic tool development, diffusion media and<br />

bipolar plate materials, and water management. Contributed intellectual property to fuel cell<br />

systems in 115-vehicle demonstration fleet.<br />

Xerox Corporation, Photoreceptor Products and <strong>Technology</strong>, 1998-2001<br />

o Senior Research Engineer: Conducted research on slot die coating and drying processes related to<br />

photoreceptor manufacturing.<br />

o Performed experimental studies on pilot-scale coaters, and investigated associated unit operations<br />

including dispersion, milling and filtration.<br />

o Applied GOMA code (Sandia National Lab) for predicting coating bead instability.<br />

General Electric/Lockheed Martin Corporation, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, 1989-1998<br />

o Senior Research Engineer: Proposed and executed a multi-million dollar test program to support<br />

design <strong>of</strong> advanced nuclear propulsion systems for submarines and aircraft carriers. Focused<br />

research effort on multi-phase flow dynamics in primary reactor coolant channels and steam<br />

generators.<br />

o Developed diagnostic methods for simulated pressurized two-phase flows in nuclear reactor coolant<br />

systems, based on hot-film anemometry, laser Doppler velocimetry, gamma densitometry, etc.<br />
