Opening ceremony “Garnisonstrasse” hall of residence in Linz On 27 August 2009, the opening ceremony for the “Studierendenheim der Wirtschaftshilfe der Studierenden Oberösterreich” hall of residence was held. It is hoped that its outstanding energy efficiency will be a role model for the in-demand students of the technical college. Over a total of six floors, Rhomberg ARGE and PTI/ Telekom Immobilien have created a modern living space with 125 individual and five double rooms, some of which have been designed to cater for disabled students. New apprenticeships for 2009 Bricklayers, civil engineers and technical engineers Sandro, Benjamin, Thomas and Fabian have opted for an apprenticeship as bricklayers, Patrick has gone for a career as civil engineer and Thomas is training at BBW to become a technical engineer. We are pleased to welcome these six committed young men to the Rhomberg Team. Munich Oktoberfest by train On 2 October 2009, 12 colleagues from Bahntechnik Bregenz, St. Gallen, ARGE Alptransit Brenner and Rhomberg Bau set off for some serious celebrations in the beer garden. We enjoyed a pint in the garden of the Löwenbräu tent and made the return journey on the same day by train. Setting the course for the future with optimised corporate structures The following were appointed as new authorised representatives of the company: Andreas Förster, Rhomberg Bahntechnik AG, Menegola AG; Peter Strolz, Rhomberg Gleisbau GmbH; Josef Jenny, Rhomberg Bau AG; Dirk Diederich and Richard Geiger, Rhom berg Bahntechnik GmbH; Stefan Knittel, RTE Technologie GmbH, a company in the Rhomberg Railway Technology Group. Back to the future How the Rhomberg Group manages to combine faith in tried and tested solutions with a clear focus on the future. What can we hold on to in times of crisis? What will bring us closer to the future? How can we today shape the world of tomorrow in a sustainable manner with the current means at our disposal? One possibility is to take one step back and then two steps forward – another is to focus on mobility in terms of thinking and actions. We focus on tried and tested solutions by learning to refocus on our core business, concentrating on our strengths and using them appropriately in the marketplace – and by allowing new knowledge and expertise to become part of the solution as well. This is not a contradiction – in fact ‘tried and tested’ and ‘new’ is actually an unbeatable combination. The fact that this works is continually proved by our projects, our satisfied customers, clients, building owners and employees. NEVER STANDING STILL In recent years, a lot has happened in the Rhomberg Group. We have become mobile, flexible and shown how to lead the way. Sustainable housing construction with flexible solutions and services all around the topics of living, passive house standards, energy refurbishment, lifecycle analyses of buildings and infrastructure, railway technology, resource-optimized construction site logistics, regional supply of the raw material “stone”. This – and of course much more – is what the Rhomberg Group stands for. ALLOW US TO LEAD THE WAY Our LifeCycle Tower is the product of ‘tried and tested’ and ‘new’. Our expertise in the field of conventional wooden construction methods, combined with our competence in systems construction, facility management and our lifecycle orientation has produced a multi-storey building made of wood, which produces more energy than it consumes, binds CO 2 , was quickly constructed according to the ‘Lego’ principle and which created hardly any construction waste – making it completely sustainable. Thanks to the expertise of our employees and network partners, we have been able to realize a unique project and thus make an innovative contribution to sustainable construction. With the range of services we have at our disposal, we are in a unique position to consider more far-reaching additional traffic solutions for Vorarlberg, as well as to come up with proposals for using electromobility and alternative forms of energy. In this way, we gain new expertise, which we can then share with others. This keeps us moving, so we never stand still – neither in terms of thinking nor in terms of our actions.
