In Switzerland, ballastless track construction
is one of the core competencies in the field
of track construction. This method refers to
track construction on a concrete slab rather than ballast.
An alignment process is used to ensure that the tracks are
positioned accurately. On high-speed lines and on urban rail
networks passengers can feel the difference of an accurately
aligned track.
Another core competence is the management of complex
construction projects when time windows are restricted.
We were able to prove this during the rehabilitation of the
Rehalp connection to the Forchbahn in Zürich and the
simultaneous rehabilitation of the turning loop of the VBZ.
In cooperation with civil engineering companies we were
able to renew the installation, including all associated civil
engineering and line installation works, within the space of
two weekends.
The construction of the AAR bus+railway is proof of the
fact that we are also familiar with traditional track construction
with ballast. In order to enhance safety, the existing
track of the AAR bus+railway between Aarau and Suhr was
moved on to the old routing of the SBB. The contract comprises
new construction of 7 km of track, including 17 track
switches. Time windows for the execution of the work are
restricted, which makes this contract logistically demanding.
