In order to remain in this position and maintain the required high standards, the company has invested in two new track construction machines, which will be delivered in the spring of 2010 by Plasser & Theurer. The vehicles in question are an additional Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic and a USP 2010 SWS. Both machines represent the state-of-the-art in their respective fields. The Unimat 09-32/4S Dynamic guarantees a quick changeover from continuous track packing to points packing, which can also be done continuously. Here, “continuous” means that the movable unit frame allows the packing machine to work on the track and points without stopping its movement along the track. Another important factor is the integrated dynamic track stabilizer, which is used in the same step to ensure lasting quality of the track position. The modern track refurbishing train is completed by the ballast distribution and levelling machine of type USP 2010 SWS. Once the track or points have been packed, the required track bed cross-section is produced. Excess ballast can be stored in the ballast silo, which has a capacity of 10 m 3 , where it is then ready to be reused in places where there is not enough ballast. One of the key advantages of the levelling machine, USP 2010 SWS is that it offers a very high degree of flexibility on tracks and points whilst remaining sufficiently compact. Thanks to modern additional equipment, such as the swivel limitation or the dust depositing system, both the safety and comfort of nearby residents and the operating personnel are accommodated. Track Australia’s Achievements Business success is based on technology leadership and local knowledge 100 80 60 It is a pleasure that four years after the integration of Track Australia into the Rhomberg Group all milestones could be achieved: at the time of the acquisition, the company employed twelve skilled operators and had a high-performance tamping and ballast regulating machine with a track stabiliser to deliver optimum alignment of the track geometry. Business growth has been achieved in line with the Rhomberg strategy and is based on trusted partnerships and employees with an entrepreneurial spirit, high competence and local knowledge of the network. In addition, five employees from Rhomberg’s home country have joined Track Australia to support the drive of business excellence and achieve personal growth. SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP In 2008 a partnership was formed with Delkor Rail that provides track design services and specialized railway products. This partnership enables Track Australia to offer complete solutions from concept to completion and maintenance for rail track and structures. As a result, Track Australia is currently involved in all major interstate freight line upgrades in the Hunter Valley, in Sydney, between Sydney and Melbourne, Adelaide and Melbourne, Parkes and Cootamundra in New South Wales as well as in the Pilbara in Western Australia. As the next step Track Australia intends to foster whole of life rail infrastructure solutions for Australian network owners and to accelerate the integration of European based high performance technology.
