«byggnin» – Building Swedish style
Rhomberg structural engineering teams in Sweden
Since September
2009, nine structural
engineering workers
have been living and working in
Malmö , Sweden – far from their home
base in Vorarlberg. The team members
around foremen Jürgen Moosmann and
Christoph Speckle faced challenges not
just in their professional lives. All the
employees spent the whole of the first
month in Malmö. Then a shift system
was devised which allowed the employees
to take turns in spending a week
with their families.
Track slab FROM COPEN-
HAGEN/DK TO MALMÖ/SE
The professional challenge came in
the form of a twelve kilometre long
rail line, which must be constructed as
track slab by April 2010. It will form
part of the future rail link between
the city centres of Copenhagen and
Malmö. The teams were given a week
of special training in Rhomberg Station
to deal with the special demands of
concreting the track slab.

Right next door to Rhomberg headquarters
in Bregenz/AUT, Rhomberg
specialists demonstrated to a circle of
interested colleagues how to complete
a construction project, perfectly and
on-time. Karl Fussenegger and his
team built Blocks A and B in record
time. Work started in January 2009,
the last touch was completed in
August – and that happened despite
the extraordinary challenges the architecture
posed for the various tradesmen.
Some interesting details: the surveying
work was carried out by our
new surveyor Christoph Pachoinig in
agreement with the foreman to the
great satisfaction of all the project
participants. During the coldest part of
the year, the team kept themselves fit
with “healthy snacks”. Throughout the
whole construction period, the hardhat
policy was strictly observed by
everyone present on site.
