The new Seeschanze
Located between the lake, city and the mountains in the border triangle
Impression of the new housing, at one with nature
The NEW SEESCHANZE is an extraordinary project. Just
as extraordinary is the collaboration of two well-known
Vorarlberg construction companies. To utilise the opportunities
of this unique site to the best possible advantage,
Schertler-Alge and Rhomberg Bau are contributing their
competence and experience to this joint project. To optimally
exploit synergies, the two organisations have founded
a jointly-owned company, Wohnen am See Bauträger
GmbH, in which this sub-project will be implemented
cooperatively. Between Bregenz and Lochau, between
Lake Constance and Pfaender, between mother nature and
urban infrastructure, this extraordinary residential project
has an unrivalled position.
The NEW SEESCHANZE blocks A to F comprise six
structures that fit harmoniously into the park landscape.
The offset arrangement of the blocks on the gently sloping
ground was developed very carefully so that as many flats
as possible have a view to the lake and the residents have
as much privacy as possible. The green zones link communal
and private areas. Access is via a residential road with
trees and visitor parking.
The ensemble planned by architects baumschlager eberle
impresses with the sensitive treatment of the exceptional
position and contemporary aesthetics that give the location
its own identity and a unique atmosphere. During the
development of the project, special attention was given
to a sustainable and ecological form of construction. Low
energy and operating costs are as much a matter of course
as optimal support before, during and after the construction
phase. Here for the first time we are using heat pumps with
ground sensors for the provision of heating, combined with
a solar plant for the provision of hot water.
