Exhibitors
A small number of publishers and organisations will have exhibitions in the Map Room.
Medical, emergencies and security
First Aiders will be available at the registration desk of the RGS-IBG. For more serious
emergencies delegates are advised to go to one of the local hospitals; the Chelsea and
Westminster Hospital, Fulham Road, or St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.
Urgent messages may be left with RGS-IBG Registration (020 7591 3022).
The RGS-IBG is located on a busy road. There is plenty of opportunity for petty theft.
Although this is not a known issue at the RGS-IBG, we encourage you to keep your
personal possessions with you and to be aware of security at all times. Bags can be left
with the security staff at registration for safe keeping. Please wear your delegate badge at
all times.
Volunteers
Volunteers will be available throughout the week; they will be clearly identified with red
lanyards. Please do not hesitate to ask them for assistance at any time.
Food and refreshments
Morning and afternoon coffee and tea and lunch all are included in the conference
registration. These will be served in the Main Hall. If you have made specific dietary
requests, please identify yourself to the catering staff.
Recycling
The RGS-IBG is committed to reducing the resources used in conferences by sourcing
supplies and food locally, using recycled and recyclable materials, and reducing, reusing
and recycling conference materials to every extent possible. We urge all delegates to
recycle discarded materials.
Banks and bureau de change
There are a number of banks at South Kensington and High Street Kensington, including
ATM machines inside South Kensington Underground Station and Imperial College
outside the Student Union shop and canteen on the Main Walkway, which is accessed
through the Main Entrance to Imperial College. There are bureau de change facilities next
door to Knightsbridge Underground Station and at the Post Office at South Kensington.
Local transport
Oyster cards: Oyster cards are the cheapest way to travel on all public transport in
London. A £5 refundable deposit is required for the card.
