level. For the Voltterrein area the accents at building level are: energy,
water (disconnection) and the indoor environment for the houses in the
most heavily burdened ‘front line’ areas. Higher ambitions have been set
for these modules in the environmental profile.
Conclusion
Environmental quality contributes to planning quality, but environmental
goals are not always built into the planning phase of a redevelopment.
Environmental input requires the formulation of clear, suitable goals that
are aligned and part of the planning process. Each individual plan has an
environmental analysis of the current and the desired situations. The
environmental profile with proven quality criteria for the built-up area and
buildings is an aid for the continued effect of environmental aspects in the
project. By indicating suitable criteria and the accompanying margins it
becomes possible for the parties to include the environmental issues in a
flexible and creative way in the context of the overall environmental quality
of the area. The environmental profile itself, finally, is the ‘picture’ with
which the environmental goals are presented.
