Police Report by TK Pelutan Tiun (WN KP 370715135231)
On 26/06/2007, at or about 11.00am, I was resting at the house Lot 208 Kampong
Narum, Marudi as I was sick and feeling weak. 2 persons, Paterus Raja who is the
manager of the Marudi Community Hall and the Sarawak Administrative Officer
(SAO) Langan Anak Ratin from the Marudi District Office came to visit me at the
house. Paterus spoke in Kelabit language to my daughter-in-law Christina Alau
Uning.
Paterus repeatedly said that he and the SAO sympathize with my poor health and the
bad situation I am in and said that they came to help me. They reminded me that I had
with TK Bilong Oyau, TK Kelasau Na’an and TK Jawa Nyipa filed a court case
against the company Samling and the State Government of Sarawak. They said that
when the case proceeds to trial, my poor health will prevent me from attending to the
court proceedings. They pointed out that the Judge will then issue a warrant to arrest
me and bring me to court.
Paterus Raja explained to me that he and SAO Langan Anak Ratin will be able to help
me removing my name from the case. He threatened that if I lose the court case, the
government will cease paying me the allowance of RM450.00 per month. They said
that I will suffer great losses if my monthly allowance is stopped.
Paterus Raja then informed me that he and SAO Langan Anak Ratin have already
appointed a lawyer to assist me. Paterus Raja also informed me that SAO Langan
Anak Ratin had paid RM1,750.00 to the lawyer. He showed me some documents but I
do not understand the content as I was not given copied of them and neither were the
content read or explained to me.
Then Paterus Raja instructed SAO Langan Anak Ratin who then held my hand and
make me thumb-print all the documents, without my consent. After that, they left the
house. But Paterus returned later and held my hand to thumb-print another 3
documents which he said were left out earlier.
As I felt very uneasy with what Paterus Raja and SAO Langan Anak Ratin had done, I
quickly instructed that the matter be brought to the immediate attention of TK Bilong
Oyau and TK Kelasau Na’an and requested that they come to see me in Marudi.
Not long after that, TK Bilong Oyau and TK Kelasau Na’an came to meet me at the
general hospital in Marudi. I was then warded as my health condition had deteriorated.
I told them what had happened and I requested that TK Bilong Oyau and TK Kelasau
Na’an lodged a police report about the incident on my behalf as I was unable to get

out from the bed.
TK Bilong Oyau and TK Kelasau Na’an immediately went to the Marudi police
station to lodge the report and asked for police investigation as we were worried that
what had happened may affect the case we had filed in the High Court in Miri (Case
No: 22-46-98 (MR). After TK Bilong Oyau and TK Kelasau Na’an had lodged the
police report, they gave me a copy of that Police Report No. MDI/RPT/442/07.
I was informed by my lawyer Mr Baru Bian that a lawyer from Khoo & Company
Advocates & Solicitors in Miri had written to him a letter saying that Khoo &
Company Advocates & Solicitors in Miri is now my lawyer and that they had filed a
notice of lawyer in the Miri High Court and the Court of Appeal.
I have never met any lawyer or staff of Khoo & Company Advocates & Solicitors in
Miri who claimed to be representing me or act on my behalf.
I suspect that all the documents that Paterus Raja and SAO Langan Anak Ratin had
forced me to thumb-print are connected with what Khoo & Company Advocates &
Solicitors in Miri had said, that I had engaged them to act on my behalf.
I have been cheated and this had affected me from taking and continuing the actions
to defend our native customary rights (NCR) over our land in Sungai Selaan and
Sungai Linau which is the domain of our Penan people. I lodge this report in order
that the police will investigate into this matter.
Yours truly:
