General Directorate <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Nature C<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> and Nati<strong>on</strong>al Parks (DKMP) and Uni<strong>on</strong> for<br />
Protecti<strong>on</strong> and improv<br />
for the management <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the site. Natural and archeological SIT areas are bound to the<br />
Ministry <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Culture and Tourism.<br />
HYDROLOGICAL ASPECTS<br />
Gediz River, known as Hermos in antique times, is the sec<strong>on</strong>d largest river <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Aegean<br />
Regi<strong>on</strong>. With its almost 1.7-milli<strong>on</strong>-ha catchment basin, Gediz covers 2.2 percent <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

The river rises from Murat and Saphane Mountains in central western Anatolian<br />
hinterland. In its east to west flow in general, Gediz joins with important tributaries such<br />
