Reed Harvesting<br />

past, whereas there are people coming to the regi<strong>on</strong> for reed harvesting in recent years.<br />

The reeds are reaped and sold in Karacabey or to the traders coming to the village.<br />

Those that cannot be sold are used to manufacture saddle, rope, matting and as isolati<strong>on</strong><br />

material in walls and ro<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>s. The reeds are also exported.<br />

Hunting<br />

A hunting rifle can be seen in almost every village in the surrounds <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Lake Uluabat. The<br />

lake is <strong>on</strong>e <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the important hunting areas for those particularly coming from Istanbul<br />

and Bursa. Hunters sail <strong>on</strong> the lake either with the camouflaged small boats or fisher<br />

boats they hire from the villagers or with their own boats.<br />

Inside the lake is where the most intensive hunting is practiced. The outlet <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the lake<br />

no adequate c<strong>on</strong>trol in Lake Uluabat due to some deficiencies.<br />

Fishery<br />
